2 Easy Tips on How to Write and How to Turbo-Charge Your Written Internet Presence (aka Weblog [colloquial: Blog])
Gather round, bloggers! It’s time to embiggen your lexicon! I want to introduce you to two new words:
via
from
Similar, but distinctly different in purpose.
Via points to a place where you found a tasty nugget of content.
From points to the generous soul who made that tasty morsel of contenty goodness.
Via leads to curators.
From leads to creators.
Since there are apparently people who read this blog, (Whoah! Hi! Thanks for reading!) I wanted to let you in on the lingo I’ll be using here from now on. Also, I suggest you do so as well.
I can’t tell the number of times I’ve searched around for the original creator of something and have been unable to track it down. I get stuck in an echo-chamber of only citing curators and never getting back to the real creator of a nice image, a savory paragraph or a tantalizing video. If we can’t figure that out, we’re back to the Dark Ages of uncredited scribes and illuminators.
Citation™: It’s the responsible thing to do. Let’s go do it and maybe get one another some recognition, fans, or, god-forbid, work.
Yrs,
Frank
